Ah yes, the MPEG-LA, the company that patent-trolled before it was cool (now every schmuck like Apple and Microsoft do it too). Remember how they once called for companies to step if they had any patents Google’s VP8 might be infringing upon? After almost a decade of empty threats against Theora, the MPEG-LA finally started actually doing something. Now they claim (in an interview with streamingmedia.com) twelve companies have stepped up – but, in true MPEG-LA fashion, which patents VP8 supposedly infringes upon remains shrouded in mystery.

Gigalomania is a 2D real time strategy game that is a clone of Mega-Lo-Mania. The gameplay consists of researching and developing new technology with which to conquer your enemies, from rocks and sticks to nuclear weapons and spaceships. You can advance through ten different ages, from the stone age to the future. There are 28 different maps to play through. The game is still under development, but is entirely playable in its current state.

Changes: The Linux version now supports proper installation, and binaries are available for Ubuntu. This release compiles with Visual Studio 2010 for Windows. Note there are no functional changes for Windows and OS X in this release.

bib2html is a converter from a BibTeX database to HTML files.

Changes: The bibtex_entrytype table is now correctly filled with the types of the entries. Bib2sql notifies with a warning when the same author seems to appear many times for the same entry. The command line parameter ‘sql-engine’ is added for bib2sql. It allows you to specify the SQL engine for which the SQL script should be generated: mysql or pgsql.

slapt-get is an APT-like system for Slackware
package management. It allows you to search
Slackware mirrors and third-party package sources
(such as www.linuxpackages.net) for packages,
compare them with installed packages, and install
new packages or upgrade installed packages, all
with a few simple commands.

Changes: This release fixes a bug in conflict resolution, a bug in parsing compressed and uncompressed sizes in the installed package log file, updated unit tests, translation updates, and documentation updates.

Concurrency Kit provides a plethora of concurrency primitives and lock-less data structures designed to aid in the design and implementation of high performance scalable concurrent systems. It was designed to minimize dependencies on operating system-specific interfaces, and most of the interface relies only on a strict subset of the standard library and more popular compiler extensions.

Changes: This release includes a fix for a build system regression that affects Mac OS X and ck_ring_size. Additional functionality has been provided for the SPSC wait-free FIFO implementation, including a spinlock abstraction, a volatile implementation of ck_fifo_spsc_isempty, and an accessor for the FIFO stub node. There are Mac OS X build system fixes, and a formula for CK so it can be installed through the "homebrew" framework.

Kernel Mode Linux is a technology which enables
the execution of user programs in a kernel mode.
In Kernel Mode Linux, user programs can access
kernel address space directly. Unlike kernel
modules, user programs are executed as ordinary
processes (except for their privilege level), so
scheduling and paging are performed as usual.
Although it seems dangerous, the safety of the
kernel can be ensured through such methods as
static type checking, software fault isolation,
and so forth.

Changes: This release has been merged with the 3.0 Linux kernel.

The HAM radio equipment control libraries allow you to write amateur radio equipment control programs for transceivers and antenna rotators which use CAT or similar computer interfaces for control.

Changes: New models: SigFox Transfox, TH-D72A, IC-7410, IC-9100, IC-R9500, KX3, and V4L2 API support (untested). New rotator backends: IF-100 and TS-7400. Fixes and features: K3/KX3, building Win32 from a script, rigctld/rotctld ported to Mingw32, Win32 build fixes, removal of obsolete bundled libtool files, rigctl improvements, a FUNcube string test (works with V0.0 and V1.0), Yaesu newcat.c fixed to use rig->state.current_vfo to store the vfo value, a command to halt rigctld, and the ability to select the PTT source in Kenwood backends (TS-590S). This release makes sure the scan is stopped at IC-9000 opening. Alpha support for thd72 get channel data.
